La Rambla siempre ha sido una calle llena de vida. Englobar estos 1,2 kilómetros de anécdotas, cultura e historia bajo una misma denominación es quedarse corto.
The section of La Rambla immediately south of Plaça de Catalunya is named after this inconspicuous turn-of-the-20th-century drinking fountain and lamppost, the water of which supposedly emerges from what were once known as the springs of Canaletes.
The Font de Canaletes is a fountain near the northern end of La Rambla, about 50 metres to the south of Placa de Catalunya. Not sure why this is on Tripadvisor as this is just a fountain. There are four taps dispensing potable water, each above a drain, shaped like a round seat.
The Canaletes Fountain has become one of Barcelona's most visited landmarks. It also conceals a history that is closely associated with the old town's water supply. The popular name Canaletes has direct associations with the sporting victories of the local team, Fútbol Club Barcelona.
