Lake Brownwood is located eight miles north of City of Brownwood in Brown County, on Pecan Bayou, tributaries of Colorado River and impounded on both Pecan Bayou and its tributary, Jim Ned Creek. The Lake owned and operated by Brown County Water Improvement District #1 for water supply and recreational purposes.

Lake Brownwood is a reservoir on Jim Ned Creek and Pecan Bayou in Brown County, Texas, United States. After a devastating flood in 1900, the citizens of Brown County created the Brown County Water Improvement District by election in 1926.
Improvement District No. 1 supplies Lake Brownwood water to the Cities of Brownwood, Early, Bangs, Santa Anna, the Brookesmith SUD, and other small systems around the lake (BCWID, 2013a). Additional pertinent data about Brownwood Dam and Lake Brownwood can be found in Table 1.
