17 Απρ 2021 · Organ-sparing, minimally invasive endoscopic resection techniques are the primary treatment strategy for large (≥20 mm) nonpedunculated colorectal polyps (LNPCPs). Consensus recommendations favoring a first-line endoscopic approach are based on high-quality evidence showing that these techniques are safer and less costly than surgery.1
A polypectomy is a procedure to remove polyps from the inside of the colon. The procedure is relatively noninvasive and is usually carried out at the same time as a colonoscopy.
Polyps that are too large or that can't be removed safely during screening are usually removed surgically. This is often done by inserting an instrument called a laparoscope into the abdomen to remove the cancerous part of the bowel.
