2 Αυγ 2023 · The Las Cruces Fire Department recently shared statistics on the city’s new crisis response team that launched in March. Known as Project LIGHT, the team responds to residents suffering from mental health emergencies through the 9-1-1 system.
Besides firefighting, the department provides advanced life support care and specialized teams such as their Technical Rescue, Hazardous Materials Response and Aircraft Rescue. Las Cruces fire also provides ambulance services within city limits, a Mobile Integrated Healthcare program and a LIGHT crisis intervention team.

In response to escalating concerns of flash flooding in and near Ruidoso, N.M., the Las Cruces Fire Department has dispatched a Technical Rescue Team of seven firefighters who are highly trained in swift water rescue. The Technical Rescue Team has been called upon to support ongoing emergency response efforts for the South Fork and Salt Fires.
