Hayley McClintock *, Zechen Xiong , Bruno Rergis & Hod Lipson. We present a method of designing and fabricating 3D carbon fiber lattices. The lattice design and fabrication is based on crocheting...
21 Σεπ 2020 · Main. The mineralized skeletal system of the hexactinellid sponge, Euplectella aspergillum, commonly known as the Venus’ flower basket, has received considerable attention from the engineering and...
28 Απρ 2022 · In engineering design, lattices are cellular materials—often inspired by nature—that consist of beams, surfaces, or plates that fit together following an ordered or stochastic pattern. Four types of lattice structures; a beam lattice, a TPMS lattice (gyroid), a honeycomb lattice, and a stochastic lattice (Voronoi).
The use of lattices in 3D printing is inspired by structures found in nature: crystalline structures, the structures found in plant tissue, honeycombs, and other lattices have all provided inspiration in the development of lattices for manufacturing.
27 Σεπ 2018 · If you look close enough, you see lattices in nature (such as bone, metal crystallography, etc.) as well as modern architecture. Take the Eiffel Tower example: The metal structure of the tower efficiently supports its weight as it reaches into the sky.
1 Φεβ 2016 · Our carbon lattices achieve strength-to-density ratios which markedly exceed those of all natural and technical cellular solids as well as those of macro- and microarchitected lattice materials.
Lattices have many outstanding properties over foams and honeycombs, such as lightweight, high strength, absorbing energy, and reducing vibration, which has been extensively studied and concerned. Because of excellent properties, lattice structures have been widely used in aviation, bio-engineering, automation, and other industrial fields.
