- Church Educational System
The Church Educational System (CES) of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) consists of several institutions that provide religious and secular education for both Latter-day Saint and non–Latter-day Saint elementary, secondary, and post-secondary students and adult learners.
The Church Educational System (CES) of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operates under the direction of the Board of Education and the Board of Trustees of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Latter-day Saints recognize that education is crucial for moral and practical reasons that range from the support and upbringing of their families to participation in broader society. Education is a serious charge for parents who are responsible to provide the necessities of life for their children.
Church leaders encourage members to engage in efforts to increase literacy, learning, and skills training. God’s modern-day prophets have encouraged both men and women to get as much education as they can. President Gordon B. Hinckley told young men to “work for an education. Get all the training that you can.”.

Under Canadian tax law, the Canadian LDS Church qualifies for tax-free status as a charitable entity. Canadian charities are allowed to donate to foreign charities and universities on the condition that those institutions are registered as "qualified donees" with the Canadian Revenue Agency .
