Upon the marriage of Lucien and Marie-José, those within the families combined to form what is now known as Le Vieux Donjon. The winery itself is made up of fourteen hectares of organic parcels, containing both red and white grapes.
From a great vintage, Le Vieux Donjon 2019 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is rich, mouth filling and elegant with ripe blackberry, wild herbs, smoked meat, pepper and savoury spice flavours concentrated and long on the palate. Good now, better in 2023, although it will be able to age in cellar for 15-plus years. Drink or hold.
A new generation relied on traditional winemaking techniques to bring this ageworthy French red to the No. 8 spot in Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2018—the most exciting wines of the past year. See photos, video and a full review: rating, price, tasting note and when it's best to drink.
Lovers of classic, impeccably made Châteauneuf du Pape should back up the truck on this beauty. A wine of incredible richness and depth, as well as elegance, it has a gorgeous nose of peppery herbs, blackberries, garrigue, cured meats, and sandalwood.
Notes of sweet kirsch, currants, garrigue and while pepper all emerge from this medium-bodied, elegant and balanced Châteauneuf du Pape that shows the more forward, mid-weight style of the vintage.

A cuvee 75% grenache, 10% syrah, 10% mourvedre and 5% cinsault that were co-fermented, then matured in foudre. (4/2023) 94 points Wine Spectator. Enticing and pretty, this boasts a pure beam of raspberry, rooibos tea and singed garrigue, with notes of baking spices and dried lavender.
