23 Ιουν 2011 · LOA = left-occipito-anterior position of fetal head. Confidence level 95%, bilateral test. The accuracy of abdominal palpation to detect LOA position was evaluated by the calculation of sensitivity and specificity with their 95%CI ( 28–30 ).
abdominal palpation (index test) to identify the Left-Occipito-Anterior (LOA) fetal position at the onset of labour, in nulliparous women over 37 weeks’ gestation, with ultrasound as the reference standard.
Objective: To examine the accuracy of abdominal palpation for identifying left-occipito-anterior (LOA) fetal position using abdominal ultrasound as the reference standard. Design: Classical test accuracy study undertaken in 2005-2007.

8 Αυγ 2013 · At onset of labor, the left occipito-anterior (LOA) fetal position has often been considered as optimum when compared with other positions for achieving a spontaneous vaginal delivery (SVD) 12-15.
Occipito-posterior po-sition during labor is associated with poor outcome, whereas left-occipito-anterior (LOA) is considered to be a predictor of good outcome (4–6,9,10). There is growing concern about fetal malposition at the onset of labor (11–13).
The occipito-posterior (OP) fetal head position during the first stage of labour occurs in 10-34% of cephalic presentations. Most will spontaneous rotate in anterior position before delivery, but 5-8% of all births will persist in OP position for the third stage of labour.
