18 Αυγ 2014 · You'd build a big tower that is greater than 128 blocks above the ground, then you'd stand on it. You would have the mob farm inside a 128 block radius of you, but the ground would be outside that radius. Any mobs that are on the ground will immediately despawn, but the mobs in the farm will not.
When I look for the answer on the internet, the answers are either 22 (wiki), 23 (some forum posts) or 24 (also forum posts and Youtubers). WHAT is the exactly correct drop height for bringing mobs down to 1-hit kill range?
No mobs can spawn at Y=-64 as there are no blocks below (and in fact the game doesn't even try if the minimum height is the Y-level chosen). If you break the bedrock and put spawnable blocks in its place, there's a 50% chance it'll try spawning on top of them at Y=63.

If you sit 120 blocks above the farm the creepers will ONLY spawn in the area you want them to, correct. But that doesn't mean a lot of them will spawn there. To have them spawn more frequently (faster), the farm has to be pretty low in terms of height.
