10 Σεπ 2012 · I've searched the net all over trying to find out if Castrol boating grease (blue) is ok on rubber/nitrile seals. I've read conflicting things on using lithium on seals, and this grease has lithium in it apparently (even though it'd not the typical white grease).
10 Ιαν 2024 · Lithium Grease. Lithium is a metal and has countless practical uses in the world – they even make medications out of it. But in grease compounds it’s especially useful in marine applications. Lithium-based grease can handle temperatures up to 250 F. That means it’s a solid choice for general lubrication in and around the boat.
Marine grease excels in water resistance, corrosion protection, and load-bearing capacity, making it the top choice for marine settings. Lithium grease, while versatile and suitable for various applications, may not provide the same level of specialized protection in harsh marine conditions.
A silicon-based lube is the safest bet if you don't know what kind of elastomer you're dealing with. I would avoid using lithium grease or any other mineral/petroleum oil based lubricant on automotive rubbers. I think silicone can work well on rubber bushings.

29 Οκτ 2009 · It's what Jabsco et al use on their loo pump piston seals; it's harmless to most types of rubber, and almost universally recommended for O-rings, etc, etc. It's also widely used for waterproofing lectrickery.
