A silicon-based lube is the safest bet if you don't know what kind of elastomer you're dealing with. I would avoid using lithium grease or any other mineral/petroleum oil based lubricant on automotive rubbers. I think silicone can work well on rubber bushings.

I use a product called gummy pfledge. It is the go to product for one of the Mercedes forum for rubber conditioning. Its sold on amazon. I would recommend using that instead of the white lithium. For the plastic, I use a plastic conditioner.
