The Rutan Model 61 Long-EZ is a tandem 2-seater homebuilt aircraft designed by Burt Rutan's Rutan Aircraft Factory. The Long-EZ has a canard layout, a swept wing with wingtip rudders, and a pusher engine and propeller.
24 Ιουλ 2020 · Designed around a Lycoming O-235 engine, the Long-EZ not only had a longer, sleeker fuselage but a larger main wing with less sweep angle. The wing-root strakes were bigger, giving more space for fuel and baggage, and the cockpit was wider.
2 Ιαν 2016 · The Long-EZ designed by Burt Rutan, is a homebuilt aircraft derived from the VariEze. Changes from the VariEze include a larger main wing with modified Eppler 1230 airfoil and less sweep, larger strakes containing more fuel and baggage storage, slightly wider cabin, and the ability to use a Lycoming 108 hp engine with no nose ballast.
4 Δεκ 2019 · In the Long-EZ’s case, some of the prototype’s shortcomings resulted from pragmatic expediencies, such as using the lighter VariEze’s wings and adding sweep back to account for the heavier engine (VariEze’s used VW or Continental O-200 engines; Long-EZs fitted the heavier Lycoming O-235).
This aircraft uses the Long-EZ plan form enlarged for the 4 seater. The aircraft is modified in that the seating is two seats, side by side, front and back. Canard Owners and Builders Association

The Long-EZ was designed for day, VFR, straight and level flight. It is highly efficient and capable of long-distances with its on-board fuel supply of approximately 48 gallons. N13YV is equipped for night, IFR flight and is capable of limited aerobatics.
