Lumo operates all-electric Class 803 trains, which are five carriages long. Meanwhile, LNER operates a mix of bi-mode (diesel and electric) Class 800 trains, and some all-electric Class 801 trains.
Tl:Dr: Lumo is adequate for the price but LNER is way more comfortable and reliable. Lumo is great when you want a cheap trip, unfortunately their times are few and far between so if you miss it or you break down you're screwed.

10 Οκτ 2024 · Lumo lists luggage sizes similar to budget airlines and don’t want to be charged extra with Lumo when I could’ve just booked LNER. We have a couples Railcard and the price difference between the two is around £20 per person.
