I hear a lot of negatives about magic ears, and what you're describing sounds like some dystopian level shit. Trawling through your videos to find when you're not smiling enough? Insane. It sounds like ME's bad reputation is well deserved.
Even though I was garnering positive reviews and doing 90% standby classes (8/day), I cannot imagine how someone does this as their main gig with the amount of pressure Magic Ears puts on the teachers, and the randomness of it mainly.
I didn’t work for a nazi style company like magic ears but they wanted us to follow the same format. I did for a while, but slowly started doing my own thing - which ended up building a nice reputation with my students.
