Carolina Caribbean Corporation opened it in 1970 under the guidance of Grover Robbins, who had been successful with Tweetsie Railroad. My mother and I had been to Oz in the mid-70s when it was a magical theme park. She remembered it and has talked about it over the years. We planned to attend Autumn at Oz this year, but because of COVID it didn't happen. So I arranged a private tour to surprise her for her birthday.
