Find out how your fishery can become MSC certified. Join a global collective effort toward more sustainable fishing and ensuring healthy oceans for the future.
An MSC certified fishery must show it targets fish populations that are healthy and productive. It’s a balancing act between how many they catch and how many they leave to breed for another season. If fish numbers fall below sustainable limits, a certified fishery will adjust what they catch.
The MSC is partnering with sustainable fisheries across the globe, from large-scale industrial fisheries to small artisanal fisheries, to drive the market for sustainable seafood. Find information on fisheries in the MSC Programme
Certificate Code: A unique identifier associated with different components of a fishery. Clicking on a Certificate Code will download the Certificate file that contains the detailed scope of the certification. Certifier: Body that performs conformity assessment services for fisheries against the MSC Standard during certification process.
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a non-profit organisation which aims to set standards for sustainable fishing. Fisheries that wish to demonstrate they are well-managed and sustainable compared to the MSC's standards are assessed by a team of Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs).
An independent, international, non-profit organization founded in 1996, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) manages a program to assess all wild-capture fisheries and certify them as “sustainable” if they meet criteria in the MSC Fisheries Standard.
