Star of India. The world’s oldest active sailing ship. She began her life on the stocks at Ramsey Shipyard in the Isle of Man in 1863. Star of India is an iron-hulled sailing ship, built in 1863 in Ramsey, Isle of Man as the full-rigged ship Euterpe. After a career sailing from Great Britain to India and New Zealand, she was renamed, re-rigged as a barque, and became a salmon hauler on the Alaska to California route.
If you are into photography & playing with light, the Star and entire Maritime museum is a gorgeous subject. There were museum staff/volunteers practicing climbing and other activities beyond the ropes, like monkeys, which was an added bonus.
