4 Ιαν 2022 · We should consider the lilies of the field because they remind us to trust our Heavenly Father to care for us and provide for our everyday needs. God loves us deeply and therefore will feed and clothe us. “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind,” says Job 12:10.
Verse 1. A basic principle 6:1. "Righteousness" means what is in harmony with the will of God, and righteous deeds are those that are pleasing to Him. Jesus warned His disciples about the possibility of doing good deeds for the wrong reason as He began His teaching about righteous behavior.
Verse by Verse Commentary. Verse 1 – We are not to do good works out of a motivation for other people to see those good works and praise us for what we have done. Our motivation should not be to get the attention of people. Notice also that Jesus calls this “your righteousness.”.
The first is to seek first, to concentrate upon, the Kingdom of God. We have seen that to be in the Kingdom and to do the will of God is one and the same thing ( Matthew 6:10). To concentrate on the doing of, and the acceptance of, God's will is the way to defeat worry.
