19 Ιουν 2010 · Hello Hiders, wondering if anyone has tried a barrel from McGowen Precision. I'm looking at possibly buying a new barrel for a savage action from them in .223. The purpose is for paper punching and prairie dog hunting, so accuracy is THE main goal.
2 Σεπ 2008 · Even with 30" barrels and full chokes 40 yards is about max range for scatter guns. Shoot your gun at a pattern board at different distances and see what it does. Pieces of cardboard 36" square with an aiming point in the center work well.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have a McGowen barrel in a 22 x47 Lapua that shoots a wide range of bullets very well. Best group has been 5/8" 3 shot group at 750 yards. Just put one on an AR-15 and it shoots a one hole group time after time.

The procedures outlined below are our recommendations and not “set-in-stone” procedures, we have found that there are a wide variety of break in procedures available out there and one may fit you better than others.

30 Σεπ 2022 · I have a McGowen 260 barrel on a Rem 700 right now and have had 2 on XP-100s in the past. I have yet to find a load the 260 doesn't like. That being said, I am not looking for BR accuracy, but everything from 120s to 143s have shot below or just over 1". The XPs also shot great.
