30 Σεπ 2022 · take a look at what the pros use for prs, or what the top gunsmiths/custom builders in the country are spinning up, and you'll find zero mention of mcgowen. IMO, they're a replacement barrel, like a pacnor, not a custom barrel like a bartlien, kreiger, lilja, etc. That's not completely accurate.
12 Δεκ 2020 · I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen? Will it be that noticeable of a difference?
24 Σεπ 2020 · Has anyone used a McGowen #4 contour barrel on a carry rifle? Would it be similar to a varmint contour and much too heavy to pack around the woods comfortably?
23 Ιουν 2019 · I have a McGowen 18 inch 300wsm tikkka lite contour barrel flared for 5/8 threads. It arrived and headspace wasn't correct, couldn't chamber a round. I sent it back and it was quickly returned and headspace was corrected.
21 Αυγ 2020 · My opinion on affordable priced aftermarket barrels is if you’re looking at nut prefits and need something cheap go for it, but I’d personally be looking heavier at an NSS criterion as they have more market following/reviews.
