30 Μαΐ 2019 · Looking down the bore of my McGowen vs my two higher end barrels is enlightening. The two high-end (cut-rifling) barrels are smooth and the McGowen has a lot of imperfections/tooling marks/pits. In defense of the McGowen though, it shoots amazing.
30 Σεπ 2022 · take a look at what the pros use for prs, or what the top gunsmiths/custom builders in the country are spinning up, and you'll find zero mention of mcgowen. IMO, they're a replacement barrel, like a pacnor, not a custom barrel like a bartlien, kreiger, lilja, etc. That's not completely accurate.
12 Δεκ 2020 · #1. I have heard a mix bag of reviews on the McGowen barrels. I ordered one last year simply because of the lead times on when I needed it. I have been able to work up loads in that 3/4 MOA range without a ton of trouble. My question is, are the Shilen, Benchmark, Brux etc. that much better than the McGowen?
23 Ιουν 2019 · Location. Florida,Dwneast Me,Catskills. I had McGowen duplicate the contour of a Ruger M77 RL Ultralight and fit it to my action in 260 Rem with an. 8 twist. It has shown better accuracy than I have a right to expect from such a soda straw thin barrel. And their workmanship was exceptional.
9 Μαΐ 2021 · I have friends that have built & owned CF guns & ML's & SML's with Mcgowen & Shilen barrels on them. But I'm not familiar with Criterian barrels. May I suggest that you look into the value, pros/cons of the difference between " Cut rifle barrels " & " Button rifle barrels " before deciding.
9 Οκτ 2023 · I'm looking at X-Caliber and McGowen right now. Which would you choose? They're within $30 of each other when optioned as I want. I've decided on rebarreling instead of buying a new rifle as I can't spend the cash on a new rifle of the quality that I want, but a new barrel (plus related tools that I would need) is doable.
12 Δεκ 2022 · Ordered a 22 creed barrel in 7 twist, barrel shows up marked 8 twist. Call up McGowen to see what’s up, dude acts like it’s no big deal and says the barrel is indeed 7 twist because that’s what the computer shows.
