In this context, we intro-duce a recent Italian study by Zanetti et al1 on pregnancy outcomes after therapeutic use of MTX in women with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). MTX is on the WHO list of essential medi-cines.

Methotrexate was used to induce abortions and is currently used to treat ectopic pregnancies (pregnancies that grow outside the uterus). Some brand names for methotrexate are: Otrexup®, Trexall®, Rheumatrex®, and Rasuvo®.
