In April of 2011, the state of Michigan updated Public Act 207, also known as the Michigan Fire Prevention Code, to include adoption of the NFPA 1 1-2006 “Uniform Fire Code” and the NFPA 101-2006 “Life Safety Code”, as reference documents.

Act 207 of 1941. 29.22 Violations; penalties. Sec. 22. (1) Except as otherwise provided for in this act, a person who violates this act, or who maintains a fire hazard in violation of this act, or rule promulgated pursuant to this act, is guilty of a misdemeanor.

In case the title to any lands upon which a building constituting a fire hazard is situated should become vested in the state or any political subdivision of this state, or any department, board or other agency thereof, either before or after the issuance of the order described in section 9 hereof, such building or fire
