The Tuition Incentive Program (TIP) encourages eligible Medicaid recipients to complete high school by providing tuition assistance during an eligible student’s qualifying certificate or associate degree program, and also during the student’s bachelor’s degree program.
The TIP application may be completed online in the MiSSG Student Portal at www.michigan.gov/missg or by calling 1-888-447-2687. If a student has been told that they are not eligible for TIP, but feels they should be eligible based on the criteria, the student may appeal their status.
Michigan Education Savings Plan (MESP) The Michigan Education Savings Plan is a qualified tuition plan or Section 529 plan. It is a flexible, tax-advantage program designed to help families invest for future college costs.
The Michigan Department of Human Services (DHS) determines which students are Medicaid eligible and transmits this information to the Michigan Department of Treasury. An application must be submitted by August 31 of the student’s senior year.
