The mind rune is used for the strike spells including Wind Strike, Water Strike, Earth Strike, and Fire Strike, as well as the Magic Dart spell. Mind runes are craftable at level 2 Runecraft with either rune or pure essence.

To gain some early GP you can run through the stronghold of security to get 5-10k cash and be able to buy a good amount of mind runes, or possibly kill cows for cowhides and sell on GE to make money.
You could also try using slayer dart with the slayer staff (e), but that is somewhat costly in terms of death runes. Get rune pouch, use them on the flame phase of olm as waterspells.
