You can drop right infront of mage tutor and claim runes and pick your others right up. To gain some early GP you can run through the stronghold of security to get 5-10k cash and be able to buy a good amount of mind runes, or possibly kill cows for cowhides and sell on GE to make money.
The Mind Altar is a runic altar upon which mind runes are crafted from rune essence or pure essence, providing 5.5 Runecraft experience per essence imbued. Level 2 Runecraft is required to craft mind runes.
Mind runes you say? You're in luck! Every time you enter Lumby castle, turn left for a freebie by the staircase ;) For slightly more, you can ask the tutor outside the castle for free runes every 30 mins; she won't put out if you're already holding so drop your current stack on the floor first.
Crafting mind runes is 30k xp/h, WITHOUT pouches, and easily 32k+ xp/h with pouches. Below 75 runecrafting, it costs 90k gp/h, scaling down 20k gp/h every 14 levels, until you actually PROFIT upon reaching 75 Runecrafting and acquiring a Giant Pouch.
Mind runes are used for the spells Confuse, Stagger, Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Sapphire) and Monster Examine. Mind runes can either be bought from Aubury's Rune Shop in Varrock, created from rune essence on mind altar through Runecrafting, procured from drops by killing monsters or picked up from spawns on the ground.
Mind runes can be purchased from Betty in Port Sarim, the Void Knight Magic Store on Pest Control Island, and from Aubury just south of Varrock East Bank in Aubury's Rune Shop. The mind altar is located north of Falador, in between Goblin Village and Ice Mountain, very near to the Wilderness.
