15 Οκτ 2024 · MSGenWeb, a part of The UsGenWeb - providing free genealogy for researchers seeking ancestors that settled the great State of Mississippi. First explored for Spain by Hernando de Soto, who discovered the Mississippi River in 1540, the region was later claimed by France.
An important part of this project was the interviews of the surviving ex-slaves. The MSGenWeb Project, a division of the USGenWeb Project, has attempted to collect as many of the interviews done of Mississippi residents who were born in slavery as we can.
