23 Μαρ 2024 · To test your display for backlight bleed (also referred to as just “light bleed”), play the full-screen video embedded below or open a pitch-black image. The light that you see around the edges or in the corners of the screen is backlight bleed.
Backlight bleed is light leaking from the bezels. To check for backlight bleed you need to look at the monitor from far away while it's displaying full screen black. If the screen isn't fully grey then you're seeing backlight bleed.
Test screen patterns will help you evaluate the image quality of your monitor. You can easily check your monitor for broken pixels, color rendering, response and other parameters, as well as adjust and calibrate your monitor to get the best image quality.
For this test it is essential that the environment is dark and that the browser or image viewer is running in full-screen mode. Use the contrast setting, and maybe gamma to improve the display of the darker squares, but watch out for undoing the optimizations in the earlier images.
