Since you can skip your 3 feats per archetype, you can actually build up an skill monk by taking all the archetypes that bump your skill proficiencies like: acrobat, medic, dandy, archeologist, herbalist, Linguist, Marshal, Golden League Xun, etc.
5 Αυγ 2020 · This build is based on PF1’s chakra system found in Occult Adventures. In the build, I map the 2e monk’s ki-based feats to chakras, guided by the descriptions Paizo provides re: what each chakra is associated with (e.g. root chakra associated with instinct and survival).
Second, since the APG errata, Scales of the Dragon is incredibly good for Monk. It allows your 18 Str 16 Dex Monk to have the same AC as a Dex Monk would at level 10. This feat is level 4. I think this alone makes Dragon Disciple one of the best free archetypes in the game for Monk.
The purpose of this guide is to provide players with insight as to how to build an effective monk. It is not specifically meant as an optimization guide but rather how to make a monk that you can enjoy playing and will be effective in combat.
This is not a full guide to monks, nor is it min-max guide, but rather is an enumeration of the narrower set of options that I look at while deciding how to advance my monks within different campaigns.
