myths begin with a Mother Goddess arising out of Chaos, Darkness, or Sea, who then unites with a Serpent or the Wind, and from their union the world comes into being. In Orphic myth, the Goddess of black-winged Night unites with the Wind and lays a silver egg in the womb of Darkness.
