The best troops are always your own faction troops that you can meddling with after you founded your own kingdom. I’m not gonna go into detail about elephant units much since they seems to be only useful as a bait.
I couldn't find a wiki, so what I did was use the cheats and character editor. Then I went around and grabbed a few troops from all the nation's and sat there upgrading them to figure out the trees.
