12 Αυγ 2018 · On Oct. 3, 2017, Eugene N. Parker, professor emeritus at the University of Chicago, visited the spacecraft that bears his name: NASA’s Parker Solar Probe. This is the first NASA mission named for a living researcher and it's humanity’s first mission to explore the Sun up close.

To help find out, NASA launch ed the robotic Parker Solar Probe (PSP) to investigate regions closer to the Sun than ever before. The PSP's looping orbit brings it nearer to the Sun each time around-- every few months.

7 Μαρ 2023 · NASA’s Parker Solar Probe launched aboard a ULA Delta IV Heavy rocket on August 12, 2018, from Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and will be the first-ever mission to “touch” the Sun.
