Consequently, this paper seeks to enhance our understanding of what the notion of bioeconomy means by exploring the origins, uptake, and contents of the term “bioeconomy” in the academic literature.
The topic of “bioeconomy” encompasses a broad interdisciplinary field with numerous biotechnical and economic applications that aim at a more sustainable production within a national economy and that map processes more closely to nature.
