This revision of the handbook for middle/junior high school athletic programs has been completed to assist local boards of education and their staffs in carrying out the intent and purpose of the statute cited.
Click here to access the 2024-2025 Middle and Junior High School Athletics Manual. The North Carolina State Board of Education adopted new athletic policies on June 6th, 2024, which took effect July 1, 2024.

Bat Guidelines for USA Baseball Events. AGE GROUP. RULE. ASSOCIATED EVENTS. 10U/11U/12U. • No longer than 32 inches. • No specific weight/length ratio limit. • Wood, metal or composite is allowed. • Non-wood and multi-piece wood bats must be USABat certified.
Middle School Information. Middle and junior high schools in North Carolina do not automatically follow NCHSAA rules. Individuals should contact their school system's central office with questions. For a copy of the Middle/Jr. High School Athletics Manual, visit the NCDPI Athletics Website.
