31 Μαΐ 2010 · Introduction. In addition to providing BLAST sequence alignment services on the web, NCBI also makes these sequence alignment utilities available for download through FTP. This allows BLAST searches to be performed on local platforms against databases downloaded from NCBI or created locally.
The Basic Local Alignment Search Tool (BLAST) finds regions of local similarity between sequences. The program compares nucleotide or protein sequences to sequence databases and calculates the statistical significance of matches.
Download and install BLAST+. Installers and source code are available from https://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/blast/executables/blast+/LATEST/. Download the databases you need, (see database section below), or create your own. Start searching.
