Authentic learning and meaningful connections are made when a teacher intentionally weaves standards and supports development throughout children’s play. Both of the documents below provide developmental dimensions and standards most often addressed in each center.
North Carolina’s Standard Course of Study defines the appropriate content standards for each grade level and each high school course to provide a uniform set of learning standards for every public school in North Carolina.
Standards for Mathematical Practice. Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Reason abstractly and quantitatively. Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others. Model with mathematics. Use appropriate tools strategically. Attend to precision.
