IPEDS Access Database 2018-19. The Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) is a system of interrelated surveys conducted annually by the U.S. Department of Education's National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).
NCES developed several online tools for analyzing and viewing IPEDS data. This tutorial provides a general overview of some of these tools: College Navigator, the DataLab Tables Library, the Trend Generator, Data Explorer, and three functions of the Data Center: Summary Tables, downloading custom data files, and the IPEDS Data Feedback Report.
IPEDS Data Center. The Data Center is the most advanced IPEDS data tool and offers the most options for analyzing IPEDS data. You can enter the Data Center from multiple links on the NCES website, but the Use the Data link on the IPEDS homepage is the easiest to remember.
The Data Center is a one‐stop shop for retrieving IPEDS data. On the IPEDS website, click on Use the Data to go to the Data Center and begin defining your analysis.
This download will install a set of components that facilitate the transfer of data between existing Microsoft Office files such as Microsoft Office Access (*.mdb and *.accdb) files and Microsoft Office Excel (*.xls, *.xlsx, and *.xlsb) files to other data sources such as Microsoft SQL Server.
