The TLM103 is, of course, a complete impossibility — it has supposedly been designed to a project studio price whilst retaining the qualities of Neumann's top‑flight, large‑diaphragm U87. Ask anyone involved in sound recording to name a mic manufacturer off the top of their head, and the chances are they will say "Neumann".
I picked up Yamaha hs5, Apollo twin x & a Neumann TLM 103. I picked it up because I thought it was the industry standard under the U87. Now I’m doing deep research and a lot of people don’t have good reviews on it, saying it’s too high?
18 Δεκ 2023 · We get asked this all the time! They are completely different both in sound and design. Sometime soon I'll see if I can rent a TLM 103 for a day and record a quick A/B shootout on some different sources. Or if I find any on our end from demos and tests I'll share them as well.
5 Μαρ 2024 · The Neumann TLM 103 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone that features a universal cardioid pattern. Since purchasing my tlm 103, my recordings have reached a hole new level. The search for the all around best home studio mic and a classic sound to an affordable price is finally over.
