Renew Your City of New York Press Card. The PCO is accepting renewal applications through our online system beginning July 5th, 2024 based on the first letter of your last name. Please consult the timetable provided below.

Apply for a new Press Card or renew an existing Press Card through the Press Credentials Office. Check the status of an existing Press Card Application including the ability to upload additional supporting media and make modifications if necessary.
A press card is not required to engage in newsgathering activity and to work as a journalist in New York City. Before January 20, 2022, the NYPD issued press credentials. Current NYPD-issued press credentials expire on January 15, 2023, and they will be accepted until expiration.
