Property Tax Abatement & Appeal Process. An abatement is a request submitted to the local assessing officials to refund taxes paid based on physical description errors, damaged buildings during a tax year or differences in the opinion of value.
Form DP-8, Low and Moderate Income Homeowners Property Tax Relief, which is available on our Forms page, can be completed and shall be filed with the Department no sooner than May 1, and no later than June 30, following the due date of the final property tax bill for state education property taxes.
