To obtain such a waiver, the estate representative needs to file Form L-9 (Affidavit for Real Property Tax Waiver) with the state tax division. In such Affidavit, the estate representative lists the beneficiaries and their relationship to the decedent so that the tax authorities can verify that only Class A beneficiaries will receive distributions.
The New Jersey Inheritance Tax Bureau issues tax waivers after an Inheritance or Estate Tax return has been filed and approved by the Bureau. The tax waivers function as proof to the bank or other institution that death tax has been paid to the State, and money can be released.

Form 0-1; Form L-8; Form L-9; Form 0-1 is issued by the New Jersey Division of Taxation upon acceptance of a New Jersey Inheritance Tax Return. The L-8 is an affidavit and self-executing tax waiver that is filed directly with the brokerage firm.
