HOWARD BERGER is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of NORMAN RUMACK. Norm Rumack is one of the finest people I've ever met. We worked together for 17 years at The FAN-590. He was among the first to be let go without cause in Rogers cutbacks. And, he's struggling. Let's give him a boost.
31 Οκτ 2023 · The following day, Joe sent me a story from the all–news television station, CP–24, that told of an unidentified man “falling” into a construction hole near the Spadina Village (where he lived) and sustaining grievous injuries. Turns out the unidentified person was Norm.
2 Μαρ 2021 · TORONTO (Mar. 1) — Norm Rumack remembers the unmistakable feeling of doom. It was June 23, 2009. Early morning on a Tuesday. The night before, while en route to a promotional appearance near Toronto Pearson Airport, he’d gotten an email from Nelson Millman, program director of The FAN–590. “Come see me in my office tomorrow at 9 a.m.,” it read.
5 Οκτ 2023 · Former Toronto radio host Stormin' Norman Rumack remembers his unparalleled reign of late night radio! Show Notes How Norm first got the gig, what he did to stand out, his most memorable callers and more!
Howard Berger writes about Rumack's recent failed suicide attempts and his stay in hospital after a close call. If you like, leave a comment on Howard's blog and send your well wishes and encouragement to Norm.
6 Σεπ 2019 · My pal, Stormin’ Norm Rumack — the “Late Night Vampire” and an original from the all–sports staff in September 1992 — was fired. It was cruel and unnecessary. Norm, unmarried; without children, loved his night–time gig; had a nice following, and surely wasn’t earning gargantuan dollars.
Great news: My pal, Stormin' Norm Rumack, is out of hospital and back at work as a Concierge in the Avenue Road/St. Clair neighborhood of the city. Recovering after a trio of suicide attempts.
