21 Ιουν 2001 · The presence of an initial segment with a low compliance on the static pressure–volume (PV) curve in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) indicates that some lung compartments do not initially receive insufflated gas.

The pressure–volume (PV) curve is a physiological tool proposed for diagnostic or monitoring purposes during mechanical ventilation of acute respiratory distress syndrome. The reduction in compliance measured by the PV curve and the different ...
22 Ιαν 1998 · Measuring elastic pressure–volume (Pel-V) curves of the respiratory system and the volume recruited by a positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) allows one to study the pressure range over which recruitment occurs in acute lung injury (ALI), and to explain how recruitment affects the compliance.
The best procedure for selecting optimal positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) in ARDS remains uncertain; several relevant issues must be considered when selecting PEEP, particularly lung recruitability.
Normal spirometry & lung volumes: anemia, early interstitial lung disease, pulmonary vascular disease Severe.

19 Ιαν 1999 · The inspiratory limb of the quasi-static pressure-volume (P-V) curve of the total respiratory system has been used to guide mechanical ventilation in the acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) (1, 2).
