The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary program administered by the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to private landowners and producers. The EQIP provides financial cost-share payments for implementing conservation practices to eligible producers and landowners.

If you qualify, you must have your plan written by an NRCS-approved Technical Service Provider, or TSP. You can find a list of TSPs through your local NRCS Service Center or through the NRCS online TSP registry. Once you have a plan, the NRCS also provides cost-sharing opportunities to implement it.
Forest Health Protection Cost Share. The IRS has approved that the Forest Health Protection cost share program is eligible for income exclusion under Section 126 of the Internal Revenue Code (Revenue Ruling 2009-23, August 10, 2009, IRB 2009-32).
Any EQIP payments would be considered “government program payments” in your income line items. If you received an EQIP grant for your farm, ranch or forestland, the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) will send you a Form 1099-G which you should use to complete your tax return. Take note!
Schedule OR-NRC instructions. ORS 118.140 provides a natural resource or commercial fishing business credit, for qualified property, applying to a return of decedents dying on or after January 1, 2007. You may take all, part, or none of this credit for which you qual-ify.
