This report contains statistical tables and graphs for the 2024 Main Residency Match® and lists by state and sponsoring institution every participating program, the number of positions offered, and the number filled. SOAP® and Applicant Placement Rate data also are presented.
This report summarizes all fellowship Matches in the NRMP’s Specialties Matching Service (SMS). Data are provided for Matches conducted in 2021 and early 2022 for appointments beginning July 2022. The report features five-year trend data by specialty on numbers of programs, positions, and applicants as well as match rates.

The 2022 NRMP Match had the most family medicine positions available in history. The results marked 13 years of growth in positions offered—the last 11 of which have broken all-time records—for family medicine in the NRMP Match, and an all-time high for osteopathic medical students matching in family medicine.
22 Μαρ 2024 · We're beginning to look at influencing issues and understand demographic and professional attributes and how they might affect specialty choice and applicant choice by program, so we have a data roadmap.
23 Φεβ 2024 · SOAP is a service of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP). Data obtained from the NRMP offers insight on which specialties offered positions and which applicant types found success through the SOAP process during the 2023 Match cycle.
Match outcome data from the NRMP were combined with applicant characteristics from the AAMC’s Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS®) and United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE®) scores from the AAMC data warehouse.
