The S/U Option allows you to declare certain modules as basically pass (Satisfactory) or Fail (Unsatisfactory). EITHER way, that module will then have no effect on your GPA. If declared as Unsatisfactory, however, the AU from the module will not count towards fulfilling degree requirements.

S/U is not one of those. Hi! I am also an incoming freshie like you and I heard that the S/U system for NUS is mostly applicable to year 1 mods (1k mods) and year 2 mods (2k mods) because it is supposed to cushion the transition from tertiary education to university.
In NUS you can S/U any level-1000 and most (or in some cases almost all) level-2000 modules including core modules. You cannot S/U any level-3000 and level-4000 modules. You also make the choice to exercise the S/U option after getting your results. In NTU you cannot S/U core modules.
