#AskNTUSU What does this semester's S/U Option mean for me? Clarifications With the recent announcement of S/U option, we understand that there are several queries. This is dependent on your course and specialisation.
What can I S/U? Students enrolled from AY21/22 onwards can S/U BDE courses. For students enrolled in AY20/21 and earlier, you can S/U UE courses. For students enrolled from AY21/22 onwards, you can S/U up to 12AU of Second Major courses and up to 6AU of Minor courses.
In NUS you can S/U any level-1000 and most (or in some cases almost all) level-2000 modules including core modules. You cannot S/U any level-3000 and level-4000 modules. You also make the choice to exercise the S/U option after getting your results. In NTU you cannot S/U core modules.
NU of S has rolled out its new S/U policy that allows students to S/U AFTER seeing their results at the END OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR instead of end of semester. Whereas our school still stick with the archaistic S/U policy. With the outdated mindset of “academic rigour” and “don’t gamble with your grades”.
In the end, for the higher level mods, you can hardly use the S/U option. Apparently other schools like SMU has no SU option....
