In January 2022, at the request of former Chief Judge Janet DiFiore, the New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice (“Permanent Commission") began to develop a realistic estimate of the funding and resources required to close the justice gap in New York.

Judges support civil legal aid because they value equal justice and the protection of the disadvantaged.
