Developed in 1983, the Ohio Stream Quality Monitoring (SQM) Project uses volunteers who assist in aquatic macroinvertebrate monitoring to compile biological and water quality data on the state’s scenic rivers. The Ohio SQM Project is an excellent, simple, and cost-effective method of assessing a stream’s health.
The river system is navigable by canoe and offers a high-quality recreational experience for users. There are a variety of camping, canoeing, fishing, hiking and picnicking activities available along the Mohican River.
Mohican State Park Campground offers Deluxe Cabins, Camper Cabins, and Full hook-up, Electric, and Non-electric camp sites. Group Camping is available in its own area of the park, 10 miles from the family campground.
Mohican State Park offers 186 camping sites as well as 25 cabins. Pet friendly cabins are 10, 18, 19 and 21. 1,110-acre Mohican State Park and the adjacent 4,525-acre state forest are outstanding in their beauty and offer limitless opportunities for visitors to explore one of Ohio's most unique natural regions.
