So I you could replace with a long USB cable if you really wanted. I guess you could also use 4 wires from an Ethernet cable as well. The 5th wire, yellow, is just video sync for use in light guns. Just cut off the end, ideally keeping the quick disconnect, and solder in place.

I had a quick google for replacement cables but I can only find extension cables or breakaway cables, not the cable that actually terminates inside the controller. Does anyone know of a source for these [edit] that will ship to Australia ?
